Our history

MCS is born

Richard Van Der Knapp, who was a freelance programmer at the time, was tasked with creating software that could help a hire company automate their invoicing and contractual procedures. After the solution was created, more local companies got to know about it and MCS Global Ltd was founded.

An independent User Group forms

After being in business for 7 years, the independent MCS User Group was formed to cater to MCS end-users. The group now handles the MCS Escrow agreement, delivers new ideas, and helps with the development of hire software.

MCS-rm is born

In 2001, MCS decided to switch to the Windows platform and launched MCS-rm Rental Software—the flagship product of the company.

MCS launches a CRM solution

MCS launched its innovative CRM software solution to meet the unique needs of hire companies.

MCS becomes a Microsoft partner

After years of hard work and dedication, MCS proudly became a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner!

MCS expands to France

MCS expanded its operations to France by opening up its French office in Paris La Défense.

MCS goes to the land down under

MCS collaborated with its Australian partner and MCS Australia opened its doors for business. 

MCS introduces smart technology

MCS introduced various smart technologies, such as Smart Alerts which notify users of any issues that require their immediate attention.

MCS branches out to Sweden

MCS opened an office in Sweden to serve its Scandinavian clientele.

Guy becomes MD

Guy Van Der Knapp became the new MD after Richard Van Der Knapp.

MCS goes mobile

MCS launched MCS CRM Mobile, which allows clients to work with their customers even when they’re on the move.

MCS converts to the Microsoft.NET platform

Version 4 of the MCS platform was completely overhauled for the Microsoft.NET platform.

MCS celebrates 30 years of success

MCS successfully celebrated its 30th birthday. MCS grew from a small organisation that consisted of just one person to a well-respected and recognised global brand that revolutionised the hire industry.

MCS expands to the Netherlands

MCS opened a new office to serve the Benelux region so that they can reach out to more Dutch customers and prospects.

MCS launches Transport Mobile

MCS launched Transport Mobile—a paperless application designed for delivery drivers. This feature allows delivery drivers to handle their deliveries, exchanges, and collections, and take E-signatures as proof of delivery.

MCS integrates Adobe Sign

MCS integrated Adobe Sign with their hire management software to help hire businesses with customer document exchanges.

MCS gains a partner in South Africa

MCS partnered with South African company CO3 to sell its products to customers and prospects in South Africa.

MCS develops Workshop Mobile

By joining forces with BigChange, MCS created Workshop Mobile, which can help hire businesses with the repair and maintenance of their equipment.

MCS CRM integrates into MCS-rm

MCS CRM became a valuable tool in MCS-rm, allowing hire businesses to collaborate more effectively with their customers and encouraging sales representatives to become more productive.

MCS launches a new RM Mobile solution

MCS launched the RM Mobile solution which allows hire businesses to manage their business from wherever they are, through a single device.

MCS develops the Telematics Hub

With the Telematics Hub, hire businesses can analyse and access equipment locations and track fuel usage and maintenance all in one place.

MCS opened a new office in Grand Rapids, USA. Although MCS already had clients from the USA, this was the first time we opened an office in the country.
